At Williams Elementary, a number of initiatives enrich the lives of our students and staff and help us to become engaged and productive members of our community. If you would like further information about any of these programs, please contact our Counselor or your child's teacher.
No Place for Hate
Austin ISD is committed to the Anti Defamation League's 'No Place for Hate' initiative. In fact, we are the largest 'No Place for Hate' school district in the nation! The 'No Place for Hate' initiative provides educators and students with the resources to ensure that anti-bias and diversity education is central to everything we teach. The initiative also helps provide a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and have the opportunity to succeed. No Place for Hate promotes respect for individual difference while challenging bigotry and prejudice.
A Legacy of Giving
A Legacy of Giving works with schools across Austin to educate and encourage children towards becoming compassionate, involved citizens of their community and the world. Through philanthropy education and youth philanthropy programs, A Legacy of Giving aims to grow a generation of givers!
Eco Schools
We develop students who care about the environment and work towards reducing our carbon footprint. The Eco-Schools program strives to model environmentally sound practices, provide support for greening the curriculum and enhance science and academic achievement. We have our own gardens — including one for butterflies and other pollinators — where we learn about biodiversity and ecosystems!
Welcoming Schools
Our teachers here at Williams are trained in Welcoming Schools — a Human Rights Commission program that promotes inclusivity, acceptance of family diversity and community cohesion.
Crockett PALS
Crockett High School students sign up to mentor elementary students for a semester. Williams students build successful relationships while making plans for their future. The program helps build confidence, and students learn that they are valued and can overcome challenges.
Neighborhood Longhorns
Neighborhood Longhorns is an incentive-based learning program that helps students from all backgrounds build a strong academic future. The program is committed to preparing students to succeed, integrating technology, building partnerships and offering tutoring, mentoring, scholarships and summer camps.
