Remote Learning 2020-21

Welcome Back for the 2020-2021 School Year!

Remote learning will take place in the Austin ISD Portal through BLEND and Seesaw. Here, students will find assignments, videos, teacher feedback and be able to submit their homework.

Please use the following FAQ for answers to your technology questions. For more information, visit austinisd.org/openforlearning

Where will remote learning take place?

All remote learning will take place in BLEND and Seesaw, which will both be accessed through the AISD Portal.
Seesaw will ONLY be used for Pre-K, and used as a supplement in ADDITION to BLEND for grades K-2.

How can I request Chromebooks, iPads, and Wifi Hotspots?

Families can request technology using paper forms in person at the Computer Curbside sites. For families who speak languages other than English, staff will also be able to use a cell phone to communicate using the Language Line interpreter service. If families do have internet access and are able to access the Parent Cloud, you can request technology needs using a new form in the Parent Cloud. You can also view your past requests and change requests in the Cloud. Please call us for help.

Note: Families must have completed all steps in the registration process and be actively enrolled at Austin ISD in order to receive a Chromebook or iPad.

Where can I pick up my Chromebooks and Wifi Hotspots?

Chromebooks: You will pick up your devices at one of the Computer Curbside sites unless we contact you directly with a different way. Wait times are posted at bit.ly/aisdcomputerwait.

Wifi Hotspots: Wifi hotspots will be distributed separately from Chromebooks and iPads.

Key things to know:

  • We are trying to ensure that families with multiple students receive hotspots that have higher bandwidth, although those supplies are limited.

  • Each family will only receive one hotspot, regardless of the number of students in the family.

  • Please go to the school at which your student is enrolled.

  • You will need to provide your name, student ID number, and current address, so that the correct device is provided.

Where can I get technology support?

Visit austinisd.org/technology/help for several online options or call the Family Support line at 512-414-9187. If your Chromebook or iPad is broken and in need of repair, please take it to one of the Computer Curbside locations. Locations are updated regularly, and locations may close suddenly based on local health conditions, so please check bit.ly/aisdcomputercurbside before you go. Wait times are posted at bit.ly/aisdcomputerwait.
